- Do I need to be 21 years of age to take the tour? Yes. IDs will be checked, even if you purchase the no-beer ticket. The establishments that we visit will only allow those 21 and above because of the law.
- Can I take the tour even if I don't want to drink? Absolutely. A reduced ticket price is available for those that wish to take the tour but want to refrain from drinking. There should be plenty of unique history and factual information to keep you entertained!
- Do I need to purchase tickets in advance? Yes. You need to purchase tickets in advance so that we can plan ahead for the tour.
- How much walking is on the tour? There is about a half mile walk over the course of the tour.
- How long is the tour? The tour lasts approximately three hours.
- Will there be food offered on the tour? Should I eat beforehand? There is a limited food tasting on the tour. However, it is recommended that you consume a snack or late lunch if you are hungry prior to the tour. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity to enjoy before or after you finish the tour.
- Is it easy to get to the tour from the Loop Downtown or other areas of Chicago? Yes! The tour commences right off of the Brown Line on our "L", or elevated train system in Chicago. The area is also easily accessible via buses or taxis. Detailed information on how to get to the starting point of the tour will be emailed to you upon purchase of tour tickets.
- Is the tour ever cancelled due to inclement weather? No. The tour will be offered snow, rain, sleet or shine. However, it's only about a half of a mile walk, so it's not a issue as long as you are prepared. You can check Chicago's ten day weather forecast by clicking here.
- Are the beer tastings included in the ticket price? Yes. There will be tastings at various locations and these will be included in the ticket price.
- How much beer is included? There are multiple tastings of a variety of different beers, which adds up to approximately four (4) beers served during the three hour tour.
- Do I have to drink all of the beer that is served to me? No. You are not expected to drink any specific amount and should only drink what you want to drink.
- Can I tip the guide at the end of the tour? Yes! Tips are welcome. If you enjoy your tour, the suggested tip is approximately 15%.
- Can I bring a baby or pet on the tour? Unfortunately, no. We have to abide by bar policies and certain laws and regulations. We still love them, though!
- Is this tour only about drinking? No! This tour is about the unique story between Chicago and brewing and also goes into some broad detail about the particulars of the frothy brew. There is beer offered on the tour but the hope is that you will take away so much more.
- Do you offer gift certificates? Yes! Please email info@chicagobeerexperience.com including how many gift certificates and the number of tours you would like on each gift certificate and we will get you all set up!
