Summary: Located in one of the most unique taprooms in city in District Brew Yards, Around the Bend offers solid beers mixed in with more popular styles.
History: Dan Schedler was in corporate America for decades but, like many of us, had enough and was looking for something more meaningful. His love of cooking lead to a passion for homebrewing, and he eventually turned his hobby into a craft brewery in Chicago. He called his brewery “Around The Bend” to represent the excitement in the craft brewing industry and what coming up next, or around the bend…
Brewpub: The beer was contracted brewed in various spaces prior to 2019, but they were able to carve out their own shared space in District Brew Yards. District Brew Yards opened in 2019 and is the most innovative shared brewery space in the city. Around the Bend is joined by Burnt City Brewing, Bold Dog Beer Co., and Casa Humilde Cervecería. Guests can sample beers from any of these breweries on self-serve taps along the walls. Lillie’s Q, a delicious BBQ restaurant, is serving the BBQ food that you can pair with your beers while sitting at long, shared tables inside the cavernous space.
Beers: The Vera Cream Ale, made with pistachios, is a unique and delicious take on the style and a must-try. The Puffing Billy Brown Ale is also very solid. They have recently been brewing a lot of interesting and popular styles that are often available on draft in the tap room, including hazy IPAs and sours.
