Hello Brew Crew,
Here’s the latest craft beer news touching on “Hamilton,” Mortal Kombat, beer at the ballpark and our beloved classic beer mug emoji.
No surprise Broadway’s “Hamilton” has spread its tentacles to craft beer. Gun Hill Brewing has bottled the first batch of “Rise Up Rye,” which will be served at concession stands in the Richard Rodgers Theatre where the hit show performs nightly. [Rolling Stone]
First “Hamilton” inspired craft beer and now Mortal Kombat—yes, the iconic 90s video fighting game. Global Beverage Trader announced the limited edition series will toast Mortal Kombat X (released on most major gaming platforms in 2015). I’m all about that Sub-Zero Imperial IPA. [Eater]
The Chicago Defender
Since 2002, Haymarket Brewery’s “The Defender” has won nine beer medals including back-to-back gold medals at the World Beer Cup. If you haven’t already, introduce yourself to Chicago’s golden stout.
Half Acre makes this list of craft breweries located near Major League Baseball parks. The Daisy Cutter headquarters is located less than two miles from Wrigley Field and is widely available on Chicago’s north side. Fulton Beer, near Target Field in Minneapolis, and Rhinegeist Brewery near Cincinnati’s Great American Ballpark are also obvious selections. [USA Today]
My Android phone keypad has one beer mug emoji and one “cheersing” beer mug emoji. So many pictograms and so little beer representation. Fear not as the Belgian Brewers Association has released a set of 60 beer emojis featuring its members’ brews. #downloadnowemoji [Fortune]
